Vandergriff lied, was rude, tried to intimidate and harass me

Cars & Transport

I was contacted by a salesman who said he got my info off the internet and that I was approved for a loan not to exceed 18,000. I went to the dealership and left that night with a 2007 Chevy. I went back the next day to furnish the required missing documents. I heard from the salesman a few days later, asking how I was enjoying my new car.

12 days later, I was contacted by a man named Wally, who said he was the financial director for the dealership and there was a missing signature, could I please come in right away, that my approval was about to expire. I went in that day. When I met with Wally, he told me that the problem was that the bank would not accept my vehicle as a trade, but not to worry, he personally was going to buy my van, and when he presented me with the check, to endorse it and return it to him. As we were walking to the office, he said that if the bank called me, to not let them know he had bought it, just tell them I sold it to an individual, that this happens all the time. This being my first new car purchase, I accepted his explanation.

We went into the office and I signed all new contracts and such. The financial guy there told me congratulations again on the sale being final. As I was leaving, another guy came and said he wanted to talk to me. He said that they were not going to buy the van. Now I had to come up with 1500.00 on the spot. I told him I didn't have any more money and he said that someone else would be right there. Another guy comes out and tried to hand me a return check for what I paid and the title to my van and demanded the keys to the car. I told him I didn't think that was right and that I would like to talk to someone impartial to us both, that I was seeing all kinds of red flags and the deal, and I didn't know what to do. He told me if I left, he would take my car back thru repossesion and I would be forfeitting my down payment and vehicle. I felt I had no choice, since it was 7pm and I could not call anyone. I currently have two signed contracts, and two signed sales agreements.

I will tell everyone who will listen, how poorly I was treated at Vandergriff. No one should ever have to be treated like this!!!
