Extended Warranty Corp
Auto Warranty Sales Scam or Letigimate

Cars & Transport

I recently received a postcard stating in large red print "Second Notice" for an extended warranty for a vehicle I do not even own. To my knowledge there was no first notice sent so this alerted me to a potential scam. I called the 800-816-1204 and John answered. I probed pretty hard asking why I should trust this firm when so many extended warranties are scams. His only excuses were they are listed with the BBB and they have a web site "www.extwarrantycorp.com". I told him the BBB bor having a web site guarantees they are letigimate and asked for references to which he refused. I do have another vehicle which has almost 20,000 miles left on the factory warranty, so I asked about it.
I must have been beyond some cutoff date, because I was transferred to Brain Farbush, who then admitted they are not an insurance company, but a sales organization. I then asked for a copy of the policy or refrences and was refused. Farbush said they would extend my warranty to 100,000 miles or until which is 50,000 additional miles or until and that they "buy out" my factory warranty. That only gives me 2 additional years of real coverage. I did not ask for a quote. Farbush then said they only sell the policies of Warranty America, LLC, and he refused to give me their address, but it is 5695 Tukon St, Arvada, CO 80002, phone 800-531-1925, website "www.warrantyamericallc.net". On that website is a sample policy which I encorage anyone to read, and if you do not understand the legal wording and exceptions to coverage, I encourage anyone considering an extended warranty to check with their attorney or the dealer. I did not find this policy very comforting at all.
