Viking Dodge
Bait and switch at Viking Dodge

Cars & Transport

We purchased a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 new in Feb. Of 2005. We were told when we purchased the vehicle that if we did ALL of our vehicle maintance on the vehicle that the manufacturer stated in the vehicle maintance book at the dealership that we would receive new tires when our vehicle needed new tires. Well, almost 3 years and 62,000 miles later, when I believed that the tires were worn out, I asked the service man, Tom. He told me that my tires still had six thirty-seconds left on tread and that they needed to be at 2 thirty-seconds to warrant the replacement. Now, all the research that I have done suggests that tires need to be replaced at this mileage. Low and behold, as I was driving the vehicle 2 weeks after they did an oil change/tire rotation per my maintance log, I had a blow-out on my left rear tire. Now, I am a mom of three kids at the ages of 8,4 and 2 and being on the side of the road with a vehicle in December because a tire (that I thought was bad 2 weeks before) blew out is not pleasant. When I had the vehicle towed to Viking, they told me that the belts went bad in the tire and that is not part of their warranty package of replacing tires for the life of the vehicle if I followed their maintance log. Now, when my husband and I purchased the vehicle, we were NEVER told that the replacement depended on tread wear and not belt wear... A total bait and switch!!! Liars!
