First Extended Service Corporation
Refuses to cover hydraulic lines on Plan E

Cars & Transport

I noticed my brakes weren't working properly on the way to work... And then the ABS light came on and the brake light. Thinking it was the emergency brake I tried lifting it out and realized I had more of an issue than I thought.

Having brought this car to my dealer who is very familiar with this vehicle being a 1999 Dodge Durango, they quickly diagnosed I had losed my brake fluid and my brake lines had burst.

When they called First Extended Service Corp.in order to get coverage on the vehicle they denied the coverage saying it was because they had rusted out and they did not cover rust.

I read the contract from top to bottom and no where did they say they will not cover an mechanical component because of rust.

Well, I am from New England and I have had tie rods replaced, and ball joints, several times and it was from RUST and wear and tear.

Under brakes it does say what is covered. Master cylinder, power brake booster, wheel cylinders, HYDRAULIC LINES and fittings; disc calipers.

Nowhere in that contract under what is NOT covered does it even mention rust or corrosion EXCEPT on the EXTERIOR of the vehicle... Like bumpers, body panels, door handles, glass... Ect.

I feel I am being RIPPED OFF by them not covering a covered item that is a critical component to the vehicle for safe operation.

I definitely wish to take this further and report this to all consumer agencies and if any lawyers would like to help I would be very interested.

Thank you for hearing me. Oh ya... My repair estimate for this is $625. Almost $2000 was paid for this extended warranty service contract with a $100 deductible for 3 years or 36.000 miles, whichever came first.

So consumers beware... They won't even cover what they propose to cover.
