Illegal tow and absurdly high storage fees

Truck broke down and I managed to push it to a Valero gas station @ around 7:30-45. After telling the owner I would pick it up the next day and confirming by
telephone te next morning I return around 4:30-5:00 to find it had been towed by said company, all the while being in a normal spot next to other vehicles of similar condition.

No 24 period, requests made by phone to said company to pick up a set of work tools were denied, costing me a day of work. Absurdly high storage fees $215 if I were to pick it up the same day it was towed? A mere 3 hrs from time of tow and a total of 15hrs of total storage costing $215, $75 dollar a day storage fees? Something is not right here.
