Budget Car & Truck Sales used another bank than mine as requested for loan ripoff

Cars & Transport

I bought a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT, July 3rd after repeatelly, at the lot, trying to buy something more economical and for less cost.

I had previously a 2003 Grand Am SE sedan with a 2.2 4L for nine months before I was hit and it was totaled in an accident in Jan, which I bought from a competing dealership down the block.

I had searched for a 3-5 year old Pontiac Sunfire, which this dealer showed on thier web site, at a cost below blue book and average mileage for year 2002.

I found out that the car was acually at the sister lot, of two, in Lakewood, despite web site giving this address as it's location, but agreed to "look around" this lot for inventory that might interest me.

I drove a few cars including a 2004 Sunfire, which had interior console/visor parts missing and was quoted more and had over the average mileage that was acceptable to me.

After at least 3 hours of dealer hard sell for the Grand Am GT V6 coupe, getting the monthly payments down to my previous one and them agreeing to cut price off $500.00, the sales and fiance man claimed they couldn't get a hold of my Credit Union for loan approval, despite it being a weekday in mid -afternoon, I later found out, after recieving my payment booklet, they used a different bank for the loan.

Also being "sold as is" it was for the most part acceptable to me, but had tires that are down to the wear marks, the radio aerial was missing, which I later bought at a Pontiac dealer parts for $24.

The base price intially was below blue book at $10,995 for excellent condtion rating, so I was O.K. With that..., the mileage was 34,200 above average, but I felt it was taken care of the 2 of 3 years the original owners had it though, and this seem to checkout on CarFax report I later bought.

My overall opinion is I didn't like the hard sell tactic, buying an auto that wasn't as economical as I'd prefer, going from a Grand Am with a 2.2 4L to a 3.4 V6, and not using MY credit union that I had used for two previous auto purchases the last 10 years!

I won't use the only one lot service area, or buy from this dealer again, in my opinion.
