On 2/14/07 I called Doug Rowe (owner of Crankshaft Specialist, Memphis TN) to order a crankshaft for a high performance motor. At that time my motor was in the shop and I was stuck trying to find a replacement for my broken crank. I called Crank Shaft Specialist and was told that he had one (1) in stock and another was to arrive at his shop the next day. I told him that I'd take both parts and to send it right out becuase I desperately needed the parts "yesterday". He said he'd 'NEXT DAY' the part as soon as he received my payment (that's fair enough). I 'UPS NEXT DAY' a Bank Draft to him for the parts, UPS Tracking J167 3182 265. The check was for jobs #45326 and #45327. Each crank was considered seperate purchases.

2/16/07 - UPS delivered check to Crankshaft Specialist

2/19/07 - Federal Holiday (Banks closed)

2/20/07 - check cleared Bank of America Memphis, so I expected the crank to go out since I made it very clear that I and the machine shop were waiting for the parts.

2/22/07 - called Doug to get the status and to get a Tracking Number of the parts, he said he'd check and would call me back. (no call back)

2/23/07 - called Doug for tracking number. Again, was told he'd get it and call me right back. I called later that evening only to told that he was not in the office.

2/26/07 - called, he answered and told me to hang on. Was left ON-HOLD for over 30 minutes before I hung up.

2/27/07 - called again, no one would answer the phone. Voicemail only.

2/28/08 - called, no success. I FAXED a cancellation request for job #45327 and a refund for that crank only. Job #45326 was still needed. I received a call from Doug the same day saying that the cranks were sent to the wrong address and I would "have them in a of days" (ETA - 3/2/07)

3/5/07 - NO PARTS, called Doug to get tracking number and to inquire about my refund. He said the usual "I'll get that number for you and the refund check is in the mail and was sent to my home address". No call back.

3/7/07 - called Doug and he now says that the parts came back to his shop and he'll "Red Label" them to me that day and I'd have it in hand tomorrow. He also said that he'll put the refund check in the box with the single crank. [This is the same check that he said was already mailed on 3/5]

3/9/07 - called Doug, he said it went out on 3/8... Not 3/7 like promised and it was sent UPS Ground (not UPS RED Label which is NEXT DAY). On this say day, the machine shop called to tell me that Doug Rowe of Crankshaft Specialist just called to verify the ZIP code... Meaning, he was just sending the crank out. It's 3/9 (Friday), I most likely won't get it until Tuesday, but this guy told me it went out last Thursday (3/8). He also gave me a bogus tracking number.

3/12/07 - called Doug to get a valid tracking number. At that time he stated that the refund check for one of the cranks was NOT put in the box that was shipped, but was sent to my home address (again).

3/13/07 - YES! Crank was received at the shop where my motor was. When it was unwrapped, they noticed that it had the wrong size (that I needed) stamped on the side of it. They measured it and sure enough, I got the WRONG size crank. Not only was it the wrong size, but the part was not usable in terms of quality/finish. I called Doug and he eventually said that I was sent the wrong part. I told him that I was done. Send a UPS Call Tag for the return of this crank and refund all of my money.

3/15/07 - called about my refund (s) and Call Tag. REceived the norm of "check should be there by Friday 3/16/07).

3/19/07 - called again, still no check or Call Tag

3/20/07 - FAXED request for FULL REFUND

3/27/07 - Opened case with Midsouth BBB

4/9/07 - Call Tag pickup for crank at the shop UPS #1Z 305 746 26 4084 6093

4/11/07 - received call from Doug asking that I call of the BBB and that he'd send me the money that he owes me.

4/13/07 - BBB closed the case as UNANSWERED

4/13/07 - Opened case with Tennessee Department of Consumer Affairs

5/10/07 - TN Department of Consumer Affairs sent a certified letter to Doug Rowe request a resolution to this complaint. Coincidently, Doug called and said that I'll have my money by 5/12/07.

5/15/07 - no check, TN Department of Consumer Affairs stated that another call will be placed and he has until 5/30/07 to respond, otherwise he'd be put on the DO NOT BUY FROM list.

5/15/07 - notified an Attorney in Memphis to get the ball rolling on really getting my money back.

Current - at this time, Doug Rowe has lied to me and his own attorney as far as him going to send the money. He admits that he owes the money to me, but will not honor his own words, even though I returned his merchandise. This guy is without a doubt, the biggest crook that I've ever had the displeasure of talking to.
