Cars & Transport

My husband and I went to Black Hawk Autoplex because we needed to build some credit. Since my husband had never had a loan, the financ office suggested we get a cosigner to get the interest rate down. My brother agreed to cosign. They gave us the keys and told us it would take a few days because they needed my brother to sign some forms and they had to mail them. We agreed to purchase the car for $13,995. We had a trade that they appraised at $1500 and we had an internet coupon worth $300 that they said would be applied to the price.

The credit information they sent to my brother to fill out as a cosigner was actually the purchase contracts! We had never seen the contracts and had no idea that they sent them to him. He called the dealership because he said it looked like he was the one buying the car. They reassured him that he was just the cosigner, but if they didn't have the signed forms in a couple days the deal would fall through. He signed them and sent them back.

Three weeks later, they called us to have us come in to do the paperwork. The same day, my brother go the first statement. My husband was not on the account and my brother had already purchased the vehicle. The payment was already due. All the dealership needed us for was to give us our plates. We signed nothing. We had no idea what our payments were or what interest rate we were given.

And, as it turned out, they charged us $15,995 and only gave me $700 for my trade and no $300 internet coupon for contacting them. They went completely around us and obligated us to a vehicle by lying to us and my brother.

I called the dealership and informed them that I thought there was a discrepancy on the paperwork. I told them that we had never seen the purchase contracts and we needed a copy. I spoke to Yen, who is a manager and owner. He said that he could not be held accountable for the fact that we were misquoted the purchase price or any of the other information. Oddly enough, our salesman no longer worked there. The person who did our financing paperwork no longer worked there. He insisted that my brother was aware that he was the only buyer for the car. He also blamed all of his other staff members for the errors and the fact that we were not given any of the financial information or copies of any contracts.

Do not buy from them. I contacted a local news station. They stated that because there were contracts involved, they couldn't help me, but let me know that they have received several similar complaints about them.
