After you leave they claim whatever they want! Ripoff

In July I rented a vehicle with National Car Rental out of New Orlean Airport and drove it to Mississippi for local driving and then il I drove it to the Airport for my return flight home. When I arrived at the airport I parked in left the keys and I recieved a receipt for the vehicle - I thought this meant all is well... We did not inspect the vehicle, but nothing was wrong with it except perhaps for the reek of fish from the last person who apparently used it for their sport.

Two weeks later, I was contacted by Vanguard Damage Recovery who said they were handling an Auto Damage Claim by Alamo Car Rental regarding damages, I don't know what yet! They want me to blankly send my credit card info or insurance info. This is a fraudulent claim as while the car was in my possession, it was in excellent condition and I have witnesses that will attest that the car was undamaged. I will contact the Claims Specialist, to request photographs of the vehicle and the damage, I can't imagine what could possibly be wrong. I don't like that they didn't do a check with me and have the nerve to send something weeks after the return. I have just read a similar claim of a woman getting letters requesting that she resolve the claim with a payment of $3,172.95." a bogus, fraudulent claim, " Isn't this just a bad business practice? Does anyone have experience with this? I am fearful of getting such a hefty fine for whatever they willy nilly decide is damaged. Is this a common problem with Alamo?

What recourse can I take? The car is thousands of miles for me so I can't see it personally - but how can they tell anyway that they didn't damage it themselves that I did anything? Especially after I fly away?

Anyway, BEWARE Alamo! They'll come after ya when you're not looking!
