Repair Scam - Be Aware of empty promisses and LOW Quality Parts - They Move and Change Name to leave Past Scams behind

Cars & Transport

My car broke down when I was visiting Las Vegas in early April. I let my car examine by Mercedes dealer and was told that the transmission needed to be replaced but their price was too expensive for an old car. So I started to contact other repair shops and found the shop "European House for Imports" owned by Chuck and managed by Mike Joseph.

Mike told me that he will get a quality transmission, replace it for me and if I had any problem with the transmission in San Diego (where I live), he will still honor his warranty even with me being in San Diego. I asked him how? He said that there will be a little politics involved but they will find a repair shop in San Diego and they will cover the cost.

Of course my other option was to rent a U-Haul and transport it to San Diego and have it repaired over there. But Mike sounded very honest and the shop was in a good shape. So I decided to have them repair it.

One week later, I flew to Las Vegas to pick my car up. But as soon as I was in San Diego, there were nasty metal on metal noises coming from the transmission. I called Mike but found out that Chuck and Mike had many other problems and decided to move on. So they sold their shop and moved to a new location with a new name.

The new owners of "European House for Imports" told me that they wrote the contract in a way that Chuck and Mike would still be responsible for past repairs and warranty obligations. I called Mike's new number to report the problems but he told me that my car had a bad catalytic converter and I need to repair them first because bad converters will impact the performance of transmission. So I was forced to spend another $1,500 on top of $4,400 that Mike charged me previously.

But the problem wasn't with the converter, of course. The problem was with a low quality transmission that he put in. From that point on we had many many phone conversations and Mike kept dragging his feet until my car completely broke down about 40 miles out of town. I spent $270 to tow the car to my home and another $75 to a repair shop. They diagnosed that the transmission needs to be exchanged, again.

I faxed Mike the results and contacted them later but they told me that he has nothing to do with my car, nothing to do with my repair and he is not going to honor the warranty because he made that promises under a different circumstance and we are not under those circumstances any longer. He now claims that "European House for Imports" is responsible for that and he doesn't know what their excuses are not to honor the warranty.

Today is 8/3 and my car is still sitting in my garage for the last 3 months even after spending about $6,000.

My recommendation to you is: Avoid All European Classic and Modern because:
1. They use low quality parts,
2. They move from one location to another and claim the previous shop is responsible,
3. They make you spend a lot of money on items that are not necessary,
4. They are not trustworthy.
