Misleading advertising, hidden fees Ripoff

They advertise they keep you "legal for less" but nothing could be further from the truth. They charge more than other companies plus they give less coverage. For example, I usually pay about $50 a month for comprehensive coverage. With Safe Auto — I later relealized — I was paying more than $50 a month but only get the minimum (liability only) coverage. I needed insurance quickly so I kept with them for a while, until I could locate a better deal.

But then, a couple of months ago, I received a notice that my payment had been received late, so they were charging me an additional $11 late fee! I had monitored my cancelled checks in my account thru the Internet, and I know for a fact the payment was received in time — both to be credited properly without cancelling my coverage (which they did) but also to avoid a late fee.

Needless to say, I cancelled the insurance. Now they keep sending me notices that I owe them the $11! They even threatened to turn me over to a collection agency if I did not pay the $11.

My answer is — go for it, Safe Auto!

Anyhow, these people are constantly threatening to cancel their coverage.indeed, their bills look like cancellation notices when you first get them. And they often don't give you much time to pay.

This company is one of the worst to deal with. Stay away from these vultures!
