Phoenix Remanufactured Transmissions - PRT
Cost me time and loads of money. Total disregard for me since the trans arrived late and not in working order. Attempted to repair and still faulty codes. Who wants merchandise credit for crap? No thanks

Cars & Transport

I should've heeded the signs of bad business when the transmission for our 1999 Mercedes arrived three weeks late.By that time we had spent money on car rentals and depended on good friends to borrow their cars. We paid around $1600 for the installation of our "dyno"tested transmission by our transmission specialist at Tramcar. Faulty codes came up and then I panicked and scrambled to get the warranty to cover shipping. When I called PRT they refused to give it to me even they never had mentioned any choices of a platinum warranty via the phone order. The paperwork that came with the transmission stated all kinds of tricky details that had not been explained over the phone and sent alarms off just reading them!

So next my trans guy puts PRT (Dwayne) on speaker phone and asked them to correct the problem with the faulty trans and they say it must be a circuit board and that they will cover the labor involved in installing it and they will send it over the next day. Well it came four days and guess what? Yep, the same faulty codes came up.By this time I called my credit cards and claimed merchandise fraud. I also filed a report with the Phoenix BBB and the Phoenix Consumer Fraud Dept. I knew I had to find a way to ship that trans back, but I waited till my Tramcar guy got our car going within a week! So I called PRT again and after a week John called back only to give me some run around about sending the car to a Mercedes dealer and they won't give me a refund.

I decided to ship that trans back out of honesty and in hopes that it will help my case with the credit cards. I am out $3155 and I am not even asking for the labor to be reimbursed. I have never experienced feeling so cornered by a business that doesn't even have enough pride or honesty to back up their own product. I will never trust an internet ad again. PRT should honor their customers and return calls promptly, deliver products timely, inform us completely, and rebuild transmissions correctly!
