Nissan Of Statesville
Deceptive sales practice ripoff

Cars & Transport

I entered Nissan of Statesville with the intent of purchasing a 2007 Nissan Altima on April 9.in speaking with the salesperson my husband and I made an arrangement to purchase the vehicle for sticker price because they wouldn't take any less.

We decided to finace the vehicle with a 60 month loan.in speaking with the salesman my husband and I wanted to switch out the wheels from another Altima. We were told that they could not do this and we would be better off to buy our own wheels to put on the car. Since they would not come off the sticker price, we came to the agreement that they would put a spoiler and a moonroof visor on the car.

In conversation we told the salesman we were going to put $2,000 down on the car and finace the rest. The salesman said he would have a guy in finance run our credit and get the paper work ready. Our credit report can back great and we were called back to the finance office. The finance guy proceeded with the paperwork and contacted our insurance company to add the vehicle. He stated what the montly payment would be, how long it was being financed and the bank that was financing the car, then we were asked to sign the papers.

Five minutes later we were driving off in our new car. We trusted that everthing was set up correctly and that we would be receiving our payment book and tag in the mail. A month later I still didn't have either of them. I contacted the dealership and was told that they were unsure as to why I hadn't received them and that I could give them my first payment and they would send it to the bank. The payment was due on May 9th. I gave the dealership my payment on May 13th and it did not clear the bank until May 23rd.

We realized after recieving our payment booklet the last week in May that the puchase we thought we made was really a 60 month lease. Not only this but to own the vehicle we had to pay a residual of almost $12,000 at the end of the 60 months to own the vehicle! I wasn't even aware that a 5 year lease existed!

After making several phone calls to try and speak with the manager, we went to the dealership to see him. We explained to him that this not what we wanted and that the information concerning the lease was not disclosed to us before signing the agreement. We plainly stated to the manager that we wanted to purchase the car not lease it. All he had to say was that we signed the agreement and there was nothing that he could do for us. He was very unwilling to work with us and told us that we couldn't trust anybody when it comes to signing paperwork.

I have since found out that there have been several complaints against this dealership and would not recommend that anyone buy a vehicle from Nissan of Statesville.
