Tried to sell me more than What I needed

My car failed inspection for the emerency brake not working. I knew I didnt do the rear brakes the last time I did brakes because I couldnt remove the hubs and was being lazy this time, so I called Just Brakes and asked what they would charge me to do my rear brakes. They said 89.95, but would do all my brakes, resurface the drum/disc, etc for 99.88. I thought, great deal even know what the parts really cost, but my time is more valueable than that.

So I took the car down and left it with them. A few hours later they called and said the same thing they tell everyone, you back brakes are bad, ruined the hubs, need new wheel cylinders. Since the back brakes were bad, it ruined your front calipers and the brakes and disc need to be changed, at this point I quit listening.

Price now is $743 and change, I told them, not interested. He said he would call me back after talking with him manager, came back with a price of $450 and change, said still not interested. Asked if you could only do what we agreed to and was told no, so I said fine, I will come get my car. Click went the phone.

The big surprise was when i went to pick up my car, there was no charge at all. I should of asked for a copy of the stuff they recommended.

Well being a person that has done many a brake job in his life I figure it would be easier, since they had just removed the hubs. Shock came, the rust was still there, a can of wd40 and a little banging and prying, and the hubs came off. To my surprise, the brakes were worn, but not shot, the hubs had a little wear, but not even enough that i would want to get it turned and the wheel cylinders were perfect, not leaks at all. Was interesting that they could come to the full conclusion without even taking off the hubs.

So I did the back breaks, since I needed the car inspected and will do the front this weekend when I have more time.

I feel sorry for anyone that falls for their scam. Had to vent.
