Ripoff! Stay away from just brakes!

Okay so the 99 dollar brake special was highly appealing to me at the time. I had a 2000 pontiac grand am a few years back. I noticed the brakes were squeaking severely and heard the radio advertisement for the 99 dollar brake special. I asked my parents about it. My father, trained by a mechanic, told me all i needed to get were new brake pads.

I go to just brakes and they tell me it'll be a couple hours before they can tell me what's wrong so i wait. All my tires are off when they decided that calipers, brakes, pads, shoes? Basically the entire brake system needed to replaced at a cost of 1800 dollars. Supposedly pontiac had a recall on the rear brakes because one side was uneven and would wear one brake pad down faster than the rest causing the squeaking???

So I ok'ed it. At the time I just graduated high school and of course me being a young girl didnt' know anything of cars and JUST BRAKES took advantage of that.

The mechanic proceeded to wipe something wet and brown on his finger - from the brake or from out of nowhere and said that there was rust all over it and it had to be replaced regardless of the pads..

So i fell for it and ok'd an 1800 brake job. I of course told them I didnt have the money. I asked about a payment plan. And finally said that my parents would probably pay for it. I left and spoke to my father about it in which he was seriously outraged and extremely angry. HE told me i was being ripped off and that they should only perform what i asked for.

He proceeded on calling them Cursing Yelling after 10 minutes of trying to be nice. And finally after just brakes said " we can't guarantee the work then" my dad said stop all the work you're doing you won't get a penny from me.

They stopped and only added the brake pads on.

When i went back to pay for it, i had no other problems. I guess they just need someone who's a trained mechanic to yell at them and to threaten them to keep them from ripping anyone off further.

I seriously think there should be a class action suit for customers who actualyl paid for the brake jobs.

I read from other rip off complaints that customers actually paid for the work, had problems, and from my understanding there should have been some type of guarantee and warranty on the work done. There should have never been more fees added on to the brake job.

Seriously, Just brakes would either have to admit that they're ripping customers off or that they're so inadequately trained that they can't spot all these problems at the same time instead of finding something new and expensive to fix at each subsequent visit.
