I have had to make six separate visits to foothill car care in the last month. First to have them look at my cas gage because it wasn't working. They came to the conclusion I needed a fuel sensor replaced. So, I had it replaced and they charged me twice as much as a quote I received from 3 other mechanics (later on off course or I would have gone to them instead).
3 days later the problem is still occuring... Worse though. It takes them 3 separate visits before they figure out it was a "malfunctioning part" - so they had to order another.
Meanwhile, I had another problem starting the car and it actually gave out on my girl friend while she was driving it and she almost went off the road. The brakes, gas and steering wheel all stopped working.
I told them to look into this because it felt dangerous. I pick the car up that night and. 5 miles later on the freeway I almost get hit by a semi because my brakes go out.
I tow it back to the shop and they tell me the next day I need a fuel pump.
This is where I feel someone needs to bust this business for fraud. They quote me 750 dollars for parts and labor. I look it up online and find the part for 168.99. So, thats a lot of labor, isnt it? I call around other shops and get quotes. The most expensive quote I get is 600, and the best quote was 350 dollars.
So, I schedule an appointment with the new mechanic and he asks "Are you sure it is the fuel pump?"
I said, " Well this is what foothill car care says, but I will make sure and find out"
I then call foothill and have told them I found another mechanic that will do it for way cheaper. The line gets awkward. Then the secretary (Tammy) says, "well Owen, good news, it was actually a wire and not the fuel pump, your car runs fine now"
If this isn't bad business I don't know what is. I am convinced once they knew I was taking my business somewhere else, they had to actually tell me the truth, or else the other mechanic would have found out it wasn't the fuel pump and they would have been busted!
