The Car you just purchased might not be yours! Ripoff

My son attempted, and believed for 30 days, he had purchased a new vehicle from Grossinger. He made a down payment, took delivery of the vehicle, and altered his insurance to reflect the new vehicle. He was assured of financing, and the pressure to take immediate delivery of the car was necessary to the dealer to satisfy their quota. It was stated at the time of purchase he would receive any available incentives, and, it was made very clear to the dealer what his range of monthly payments must fall into. The final Agreement did NOT reflect any incentives, and the estimated payments were going to be in excess of $100 per month over what was requested.

Thirty days after he took possession of the vehicle and put over a 1000 miles on the car driving to two different full time jobs, he received a call from the dealership asking him to come in and sign some additional papers. He assumed it was final loan documentation, and immediately drove to the dealership as they requested. Upon his arrival, they asked for his keys and told him they were taking back the car. He was told he had no recourse because the dealer was unable to get a loan. It took them thirty days to come to this conclusion? Currently, he is out his down payment as well as the additional money he paid for insurance for one month.

I refused to sit in another room, away from their selling public, as they repeatedly requested, when I tried to resolve my son's issues. They were belittling, they talked down to me, and the offers they made on the front-end did NOT appear in the final transaction.

Three hours after my son left his car at Grossinger, he left another, more reputable dealership with a brand new car (comparable to the one that Grossinger just repossessed) that included rebates and a matching down payment. He was given immediate credit approval well within his payment range, and the interest rate is 10% lower than what Grossinger was attempting to charge. Monthly payments are well within the range of his request.

Car shopper BEWARE. There ARE honest car dealerships around but I do not consider GROSSINGER's to be one of them!
