I want to confirm the many complaints about Continental Warranty/MEPCO. I purchased an "extended warranty" assuming that it was "extending" the original warranty. Fortunately, I didn't pay it all at once, so MEPCO financed it and was billing me about $83/month after the downpayment. I had an expensive brake repair where two rotors needed to be replaced and later a smaller repair that was just over the $100 deductible. I didn't report either of these to Continental and paid them in full. Recently I had repairs totalling nearly $800. I called Continental and was told that none of it is covered. An engine sensor (cam position) failed causing the engine light to come on and the car to run erratically. Also, a switch failed that allows alarm activation with the key.
I had the PCV valve replaced and didn't even ask if they would cover having the transmission fluid changed ($150.. It's synthetic and expensive). The guy said that he would cover a "cracked engine block" and read off a few random switches. I said "How about the transmission, would you cover that?" He replied to me "To read your policy." and then hung up. I stopped them by killing my credit card number. Continental called me soon after and wanted to know "What changed?" I told them that what changed was that I had a costly repair and they wouldn't pay anything. That's their answer to everything:
"It's not covered". Well I have my own personal policy
regarding them: "If you aren't going to pay for the repairs, then paying your premiums isn't covered". They sent me a form to be notarized with my car's mileage so I can get a refund. I'm betting that they try to send me a bill saying how much I owe them! To Continental Warranty: start holding your breath. My check's in the mail. Yeah, right! Just like your check's in the mail.
