Ripoff Dishonest Incapable Mechanics Deceptive Practices abused & mistreated deceptive company

On January 12, I took my daughter's Celica in to Just Brakes, before she returned to college because of a slight grinding noise. This car is a 1995 model and there were 60,308 miles on the car.

I basically wanted the $99.00 reline, as advertised. After their inspection, they told me that I would have to have additional parts for the front disc brakes, including repair to the calipers. I looked at the front disc pads and they were in Good condition. They were the original factory pads and made no noise and worked well.

They also told me that the driver side rear shoes had failed and damaged the drum beyond the allowable spec. For machining. I measured the drum with the Just Brakes mechanic and Manager present and told them that I did not get the same readings. They then told me again that I needed a new drum and they could not and would not machine the drum.

The drum had to be ordered and was not available in Houston. I told Just Brakes to do the $99.00 reline as I originally wanted. They told me that they would do this but since I declined their recommendations for a new drum my warranty would be void. At this point I resolved my self to the fact that I would have to order a drum from the Toyota dealer and have the rear brakes redone when my daughter returned for summer break. I must mention here that the attitude that I received from the mechanic and Manager, when I refused their opinion was a bit more than I could take.

Within a week of having this service done, my daughter called from college and said that her brakes were squealling like a city bus. I told her that I would take the car back to Just Brakes when she came home. She returned home approximately one month later and I took the car into Just Brakes. The Manager told me that since I refused their recommended repairs they would not make any warrantee repairs. The Manager then went into the shop and called for someone else to "Take Care Of This Asshole. I heard this and became upset. I left the shop without resolution to the problem.

My daughter returned for summer break and I took the car into Jay Marks Toyota to have the brakes looked at, today, Saturday June 8. The mileage on the car is 64,000. I was present when the brakes were dis-assembled. Just Brakes had broken the spring on driver side rear shoes. This spring has a cap to keep it alligned against the shoes and the cap was missing, causing the brake shoes to wear improperly. Just Brakes had told me that they could not and would not machine the drum because of tolerances, but they infact had machined it. All of these things were quite evident as the car had only been driven about 3700 miles.

Jay Marks did a fantastic job, putting the brakes back to the condition that they should have been in when I left Just Brakes. This was done at a cost of $414.17 which includes a 10% discount.

I am filing a complaint with Just Brakes Customer Service, which I doubt will bring satisfactory results, based on the complaints I have read at this site. I am also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I am also filing a complaint in small claims court to sue Just Brakes.

Maybe we can put this dishonest, unethical, and incapable business where they belong, do something besides ripping people off. I am also interested in participating in any Class Action suit against Just Brakes.
