Bought a Windstar 13 months ago and now the tranny is shot - at only 63k Ripoff

We purchased a used Ford Winstar 2001 SL sport from Concord Lincoln-Mercury 13 months ago with and put on 14,000 miles on it. Now at 63,000 we were told that it needs to have the transmission rebuilt. The service dept. Wouldn't even diagnose it unless we paid them $100.00. We took it to two other garages that diagnosed it for free. How is that for customer service! I also called the Customer Relations 800# for Ford and they basically said I don't meet the criterea for any assistance from them. I asked what the criteria was but was not given an answer. I will not make it a point to not purchase anything from this dealership or Ford again and will make it a point to tell as many people about it as possible! I think that it is reasonable to expect a transmission to last more than 40K. I have never had a trsansmission problem with any other cars that I owned. Perhaps, because they weren't a FORD (FIX OR REPAIR DAILY)!
