U-Haul employee Shelly Weitz stole $160.00 from me U-Haul customer service ignores my emails

Shelly Weitz told me I needed a $160.00 cash deposit for a truck and trailer. I gave her the money. Then found out it would be $160.00 & 382.90 cash. My son was paying for this. He did not have that much cash. I asked if we could put the rest on my credit card which she already had the number. That is how I held the rental. She said I could use my card and she had the number. The money was still on the counter at this time. I walked out side with my son so someone could show us how to hook and unhook the trailer from the truck and put my car on the trailer.

We came back in Ms Weitz had the papers ready, she pointed at the places I needed to sign I did. I asked her how do I get my deposit back, she said when I drop the truck and trailer off that is when I get the deposit back. After they check it out.

My son and I left. It is over a 7 hr. Drive one way. I was pretty tired when I picked up the truck. I probably would have paid more attention to my paper work. We got back I dropped the truck and trailer off. I asked the guy for my deposit and he said what deposit? I said I gave them $160.00 cash deposit that I was told I would get back when I dropped the rental off. He looked at me and said you don't pay a deposit when you use a credit card. I said they asked for one I gave it to them. Then he showed me the paperwork where it says DEPOSIT 0.00. I said I paid it how do I get it back? I had to talk to El Cajon c uhaul.

To try and shorten this, Shelly Weitz says she does'nt remember me giving her a deposit. She helps so many people everyday. I said then it should be in the drawer as an overage. She said the drawer was fine on Friday.

Then I was put on hold until I hung up. Called back got hung up on. Called back asked for the manager got hung up on again. Called back asked why they hung up. She said it was an accident. Got put on hold until I hung up again. This went on for sometime, until I just stopped.

Contacted customer service filed a complaint. They replyed twice said they forwarded the message to the El Cajon office and they were to contact me in 3 days, 16 days ago. Tried to cantact customer service again they will not respond to me in any way. Sent a certifed letter to the manager at El Cajon he got it 8 days ago still waiting to hear from him.

I have been told since it was not in my contract I have no chance of getting my money back. What about a verbal contract? My son was there he saw and heard her say we would would get when we dropped the rental off.

I know now the minute we went from paying cash for the rental to useing my credit card Ms. Weitz should have given me back the $160.00. She has stolen from me and who knows how many other people. Ms. Weitz is probably taking from the company since it did not end up in their cash drawer for that day. And Uhaul does not care to be bothered about it. They just ignor your messages in the hopes you get tired and give up.

The managers name is Tony that is all I know about him.
Can I press charges against Shelly Weitz for stealing my money? And can I do it in my home town or do I have to do it there?
