Walmart
Ripoff no claim for putting oil in my transmission, transmission damage

Cars & Transport

I brought my car in for an oil change. After a lengthy time period, the Manager has the technician come over to me and explain that he mistood my "gear box drain plug" for my oil pan drain plug. I'm told on a 1999 Subaru Forrester, this is not unimaginable. I was told not to worry as they would put the proper weight or oil back into my "gear box" and it would be fine. They did not charge me for any services, and I left without altrication.

Several months later I began to have an issue with my transmission not wanting to engage from Park to Drive. I hessitated and then went into gear after reving the engine a little. After the car is in gear, it operates normally. Not thinking this was related to the service, I chalked it up to my car getting older and needing service that I couldn't afford.

Three months after bringing the car to Walmart, I brought the car to a Midas to have the next oil change. I told them of the problem so they would know what to do when they drove it into the bay. Upon returning, they told me that as part of the oil change they inspected the transmission fluid, and whatever was in there, was definately NOT transmission fluid. I immediately put two and two together and realized what had happened. Walmart had put some sort of oil in my transmission.

For two years I have been arguing with them to resolve the problem only to have the claims department say I have no proof that Walmart was the ones who put the oil in there. I'm still driving today with the fluid they put in the transmission and the same issue that originally arose.

I'm writinig a letter to their corperate today and came accross this site while trying to research others in my same situation. Does anyone have help or an idea what I can do?!?

Thanks.
