No Phones, Fraud Late Fees, Won't Accept Payoff

Well here's the story.incredibly, Road Loans wants us to buy this.

On July 27th I mailed a complete payoff, a check for 7800 dollars, to the payoff address at 5505 N Cumberland Ave in Chicago. I called Road Loans first to confirm that this IS the payoff address.

It is August 7, and we are still receiving daily phone calls, both at home and on my cell at work, asking about payment. They claim they don't have it, even though every bill I mailed that same day from an Army post office has cleared my account. They asked me to trace the check. How? It has not cleared! Another "solution" is to pay over the phone. No, not when there is a check on someone's desk in Chicago. They told my husband that there are three offices, one in Chicago, one in Caligornia, and one in Texas, and that it takes sometimes "two weeks" to get a letter. Oh, and when we asked for the number in Chicago to see where that payment is, we were told they HAVE NO PHONES at that office!!! My husband said then, "So, you cannot communicate with anyone at the payoff office, how do you know it was not received then?" No answer.

My husband is active duty Army, and we are going to get a JAG (military lawyer) and if possible, go public about this company ripping off military members, racking up late fees and interest, and basically not WANTING us to pay this car off.

It's funny how payments arrive, late quite often, but do arrive, but when you pay it off, the payment is "missing."
