Ripoff, false price on vehicle work

They tell you they can fix your vehicle for a certain price and you say "yes" and sign the paper to do the work and then proceed to wait til it's done and they tell you it will take 2-3 days and they'll call you when it's done. Then they call that day and say you owe 3 times the amount that was promised and when you say that there is know way that amount is what you agreed to and that you absolutely cannot afford that, they then tell you to go and get a loan from the banks, friends, etc. And they will not release your vehicle to you until the entire amount is paid in full! Since i was flat broke and homeless and my bank would not give me a loan, i had to make payments when i could afford it and i was without a vehicle for over 5 months! When i finally could pay it off, i asked to speak to the man who "fixed" my van and i was told that he had disappeared/run a way/quit his job and could not be found!
