I bought a 3.9L dodge magnum engine from marshallsautoparts on 2/13 for $845. My mechanic received it 2/21. I called to see if it got there yet and he said "yeah, but it doesn't look good." I went over to the shop to see about an inch of sludge in the intake area not to mention the valves were also covered. The mechanics said they didn't want to really put in because even cleaning it they couldnt say how long it would last.

I called marshalls and told them what the mechanic said. They said that the mechanic didnt know what he was talking about and it was a great motor. They said that it only had 64,000 miles on it and "purred like a kitten". I said well i still want to send it back and went on about how i would have to pay for the freight and that i should just install it because he stands by his egines. Also by calling him and complaining about it was only wasting time off the 30 day warranty. So not lose out and believing him (more like hoping) i went ahead and had it cleaned and put in. Between about $400 in new gaskets and oil pump (which marshalls said was preventive maintenance), and about $800 in labor for taking out the old motor cleaning the "new" motor and putting it in, the truck started to knock the very next day. I only put about 20 miles on it. I checked the fluids they were fine. I noticed i lost some oil pressure.

So, i brought it back to the mechanic to so if really was knocking. He said yes and it was in the lower end. I called marshalls back up and told what happened. He tried to feed some line about it was a "carbon knock". He kept trying to deny it was a bad motor plain and simple. So frustrated i just hung up the phone.

I called the mechanic back and told him what marshalls said and he laughed. I asked him to please call them and talk to them because he just kept treating me like i was a dumbas$. He called and called me back and said they would take the motor back. I said what about the $400 in parts? He thought they should pay for it and so did i since it was ther mistake in the first place.

Well to make a long story short, I have to pay the mechanic to take this motor out send them back the motor with my $400 in new parts to just get my $845 for a refund. The 1225 dollars it took to put it in plus whatever its going to cost to it out now, is out the window, i might as just flushed it down the toilet. Not to mention i still dont have an engine or money to put it in.
