Trying to force me to pay more money on a dead truck, guaranteed price on, verbal truck would be running

I went to this dealership and was told that if I was to get my truck running as a trade in that they would give me a specific amount, that changed. They told me that I could give the vehicle that I was wanting to purchase back at any time before all the paperwork went through, which I was told that my truck had to be running and in their possesion before the paperwork would be sent through. This was not the case, they want us to sign a paper now stating that we get this truck running for an amount or pay extra for it not to be running and this is because they jumped the gun and sent the paperwork through and now don't want to lose any money because nowhere in the contract that we signed does it say that the truck has to be running just the fact that they will give us so much for it.
