Crain Chevrolet
Ripoff promissed 1 of 5 prizes just for coming in

Cars & Transport

I received a promotional mailer in the mail on 2/17/06 with a scratch off box guarnteed to award me 1 of 5 prizes just for coming in, but it had to be during the promotional period of 4 days including 2/15,2/16,2/17 & 2/18. Since I did not receive the mailer until 2/17 at about 6 P.M. When I got home, by the time I looked it over and figured I would at least receive $100 cash and I am planning on buying a new Chevy Impala no later than 5/31/06 & they are less than 10 minutes from my home I would rush down before closing at 8 P.M. Since sleet & freezing rain was predicted later that night it would be my only chance & who knows, I could even be a big winner since I almost didn't get the notification in time to enter, I suspected it could have been intended that way.

Of course the scratch-off had to be done in their prescence which I totally understood. I got there 45 minutes before closing and met the prize coordinator outside by accident. I told him that I was going to buy an Impala in the next couple of months. He new I was telling the truth because of other info I disclosed. When it came time to scratch-off the box he gave me his lucky quarter and showed me exactly the area the size of one line I was to scratch to get my prize number. Much to my surprise & delight I won a $1000 shopping spree. He then gave me a certificate good at www.WOArewards.com where I could choose from over 900 hundred items and all I had to do was pay shipping. I asked if there shipping were inflated and he said no they right in line. At this time he told me that if I would like to he would give me $1000 off of a new car instead of the shopping spree if I decided to buy before the end of the promo. I liked this better because I new it would likely be a rip-off and boy was I right. I spoke with a really nice salesman and told him exactly what model I wanted which had a MSRP of $24K based on the info I got from GM's website. Of course they did not have one Impala with this equipment. The salesmen steared me toward a model one step with a MSRP of $26K which I did like but had not planned on purchasing because the additional equip, which I really would have liked, but could not afford would have been off-set partially by the unexpected winnings. I ageed to negotiate. A gentleman was brought over to talk to me and he immediately started figures which I had mentioned previously, but he was confused and proceeded to talk to me like the dumb female he thought I was. He did not know that I used to work at a dealership and was offered jobs at the last 2 dealerships I bought cars from because of my knowledge and ability to negotiate better than the salestaff. When he continued to ignore the facts I was quoting and the corrections I had made to his earlier recollections of the figures I had mentioned I told him I had never paid sticker & I was not about to start now, nor would I be treated like a dumb B*, so I would go elsewhere. I left with my shopping spree certificate and got on line, to confirm my suspicions. This company charges more than the price of the item (which is inflated) for processing & delivery in some cases. So I didn't get my $100 and Crain Chevrolet got to me for the 2nd time in the last 4 years and I have never bought a car from them.
