Dishonest misleading dealership

My husband and I went into Tempe Dodge with our 2 young boys to purchase a minivan. We were already pre-approved by a lender. We were approved for $25k but it was to exceed 115% LTV (loan to Value) We had shared that information with them first because I am up side down in my current car. So I needed a dealer to help me out.

Tempe Dodge had found a 2002 Dodge Caravan that would work with my needs. They were still having a hard time with the LTV so they said lets pull your credit and see what kind of financing we can get for you. We said okay. My credit isn't perfect but its not bad either. They came back and said we can give you 12.9% for 72 months making my monthly payments around $462. They even circled it all down on a piece of paper.

We weren't sure about it because we didn't really like the van. It was just a stock model. We left because the kids were getting tired and talked about it and said well its only raising our payments by $20 thats not so bad. Because my current monthly payments are $440.

So we called them up and said start the paperwork we will be their in 15 minutes. We got their they started the paper work. Mean while we thought they were going to go through their finance department and not use the loan I was already approved for.

We did the paper work even gave them $1500 down because that what they told us they needed to make the deal using their financing. Mean while during all the paper work we were filling out they asked for the check that I was holding that I was pre-approved for just to make a copy.

I gave it to them to make a copy. I asked for it back before we went into the finance office and the sales clerk kept telling me I will get it back when I go in the office. I though nothing of it, no big deal.

We finally got in the finance office and Michelle the finance person pulled out our pre approved check that we thought we weren't going to use. She had it all filled out with the amount we were going to finance. We were like wait a minute what happened with going through your bank. She didn't know anything about it so the desk clerk came in. He was nice at the begining working with us but than it came down to the end and said no I was working these numbers on the pre approval we had. We said than why did you pull are credit and say we can get you done at this. He never did answer.

Mean while our sales clerk didn't even come into the office. We were still dealing with the desk clerk. He just kept making up excuses to let us fall into the deal. He even had the nerve to say that his banks probably couldn't get us done or if they did it would be about 20% because the credit report they pulled showed my husband didn't even have any credit and I had very bad credit. So if that was the case than why did they say they could get us done at 12.9% Who knows? To mislead us.

We sat in there for a half hour talking to this desk clerk meanwhile he became more and more pissed off at us and we were beoming pissed off at him. We are not the ones that mislead him, they are the ones that mislead us. So lets just say no we didn't buy the car. If they are going to mislead us and try to make us feel bad like this was are only option they are wrong. I am sure that there is other dealerships out there who can help us out.
Now I have to go get a new check from the bank that approved us because they had filled it out. When they weren't suppose to I was the one that was suppose to fill it out.

I just want everyone to know out their that Tempe Dodge is very misleading and I would think twice before buying a new vehicle with them. Through all of this misunderstanding not one person appologised for the mistake. If they would have appologised it probably wouldn't have been a big deal. They wasted my families time when they new from the beginging they were misleading us. I hope you will think twice before going to Tempe Dodge to purchase a new vehicele. I sure won't be going to them to purchase a car and either will my family.
