Kari Dodge / Chrysler - Jim Peterson, Owner Sold a car we had under contract off the lot, held our deposit ripoff liars

We negotiated a great deal on a leftover 2004 PT Cruiser at this dealership. Our salesman, Mitch, was helpful and courteous. We should have known this was a typical car dealer transaction when it took Mitch 30 minutes to get an answer to our offer from the sales manager on duty. They were in a hurry to get us on paper, we were in a hurry to leave. We explained that we liked the car but would be unable to close the deal for 3-4 weeks due to a refinance. No Problem, Jim Peterson, the Owner, said, with a handshake. We signed the contract, left a $500 check and drove away. We spoke with Mitch weekly to keep him informed. At the end of the third week we were able to obtain financing for the car and called the dealership. The finance mgr.informed us the car had been sold the day before.) It had been in the backlot with a SOLD sign on it.)

We called Mitch the salesman who didn't know a thing about it. Apparently someone came in to the dealership and offered more money than what we had a contract for and the sales manager on duty authorized the sale, not calling Mitch nor us. When we discovered this we demanded our money be returned. We live in Oregon, mind you, so the drive to Kalispell, MT to pick up a check would be long. They refused to wire the funds into our account stating that it would "cost them money" even after we offered to pay.

We finally were given our $500 by Mitch 7 days after the sale occurred. No apology from OWner Jim, the Handshake Man, nor the Sales Manager, the Blue Suede Shoes man.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE CAR YOU THINK YOU ARE BUYING. WE heard reports that this same event has happened in the past to a Eureka, MT woman.
