Crooked Used Car Sales Operation Deceitful and Unethical Ripoff

Where do I start...

First, they represented a car to me as "having no mechanical defects that we can find." After I called them to express interest and to tell them that I was a Volunteer Firefighter looking for a vehicle to respond to fires in, they stated that the car was in great shape.

They are in NJ and I am in VA. They took a credit card number to hold the car until I could get up there and inspect the vehicle. Then, without permission or a contract, they charged $1,000 on my credit card.

Essentially, I went up there to purchase the car to get my $1,000 back since my credit card company wouldn't go after them.

Well, then I saw the car...

Here are just a few of the things they did:

They reset the check engine light. It came back on about half way back to VA.

The car had an obvious leak in the intake manifold that you could hear when the car started.

The car was hooked to a battery charger when I got there. They said it was just to "top it off" before my long trip back to VA. Well, that too was a load of crap. It had a parasitic drain that I still have not found.

There was no key for the rear door. The window did not raise or lower and, as a result, the tailgate could not be opened.

They admitted that the stearing was a bit "loose" but that all it needed was a new stearing box... Another load of crap... It needed a new ball joint, tie rod, and bushings. When my mechanic took it all apart, he found that the bearings had been put in backwards and that the rotors were all shot. He was amazed that I made it all the way to Virginia without killing myself or someone else.

So nuch for "no mechanical defects that we can tell."

Since they actively attempted to cover-up obvious issues with this car AND intentionally defrauded a Volunteer Fireman AND let me drive a totally unsafe car 750 miles... I am flaming them here for all to see.
