Excessive labor charges for a $3.00 job! Ripoff

Cars & Transport

Brought my van in the shop for a coolant hose leak, after a 6-hour review, the conclusion was a indeed a coolant hose that sat under the manifold. The estimate was $600.00, the thermostat supposedly had to be replaced, coolant fluid flush, of course the $3.00 hose.

I declined the $600.00 job and told them I would be back to pick up the car. They called back again several hours later to tell me that this time for $200.00 they could at least replace the hose, as I knew for sure it had a hole, I consented.

Exactly one and one-half hour later, they called back to tell me the van was fixed and could be picked up.

Can you tell me that a $2.95 hose, and a job that took only one and one half hour cost $195.95?? I was told that this was the average for labor cost in Atlanta!!! Are you kidding me!!!
