Honda not honoring warranty - hands free link

Cars & Transport

I was told by Jim Kelley at Anderson Honda in Cockeysville Maryland that if I added a bluetooth device to my car at the time of purchase it would be warrantied under the 3 years 36000 cars warranty. The device has been dropping calls for some time now and my daughter who is in California with the car took it to Miller Honda in Culver City and they refused to fix it calling the device "after market". The device is part of the vehicle purchase agreement and when I calle Jim Kelley he said "I told you that, well it is covered but it needs to be brought here". Since when does the manufacturers warranty say that you have to take your car to the place you purchased it to get warranty work done. The car has around 20k miles. My daughter called Honda's corporate line and they said there is nothing they will do about it. I learned a valuable lesson, never get any accessory added that is expensive as part of the purchase agreement, the dealer/company will probably try not to honor it under the vehicles warranty even though they say they will. Its no different if something happened to my car on a long road trip and it was undriveable, do I need to get it towed back to MD to get fixed. Disgusting and totally dishonest
