Waste of time, rude clerks

On 1-24-13 I needed a part for an emergency repair on my truck. I called AutoZone to see if they had the part & they did. I then made an apt at the shop but only had a short time in which to pick up the part and get the truck to the shop. I called AutoZone on my way there and asked if they could pull the part and have it waiting, rather than wait til I got there and then pull it. While talking to me, the clerk said he had pulled it and it was at the counter. When I got there, it took more than 5 minutes before anyone would help me. 1 clerk was on the phone, another was chatting with a customer, and 2 were arguing in the back. When a clerk finally did help me, I told him someone had said the part was at the counter. This clerk said that they never pulled parts ahead of time because "90% of customers who call never show up". I told him the clerk on the phone assured me the part was pulled and waiting. This clerk wouldn't even check, just asked me for the info on the vehicle. I gave it to him and he went off to find the part. After 5 minutes, he comes out saying he couldn't find it. He then asks another clerk if he had pulled the part, and that clerk said, "Yes, it's right there on the counter". The clerk helping me didn't offer an apology, but only said, "That's the first time he's ever done what he said he would do". It took about 20 minutes to complete the purchase, which was way too long.

As it turned out, the part was the wrong one (not AutoZone's fault) and we needed to purchase a different one. Went online and bought it from AutoZone. Received an email saying the order was ready for pickup. Went to the store 2 days later to get the part and the same rude clerk as before told me that they didn't have the part, that it had to be ordered from somewhere else. I asked why I had received an email that the order was ready, and his reply was that it was company policy so that the store could clear their registers. It didn't make any sense to me and I told him that was ridiculous. I told him I wanted a refund and he agreed. I called O'Reillys, they had the part and I bought it from them.

I will never buy anything from Auto Zone again!
