Hassel on honoring parts warrantee

I replaced both of the front door's electric window motors on my Ford LTD, back in 1996. Just recently, the driver's side window kept on getting stuck when the window was all of the way up. I pulled the electric window motor out and inspected the pinion drive, which was broken.

When getting a replacement "lift kit" at Auto Zone, I had the sales clerk look up the warrantee, but he could not find it listed. He told me I had to find the original receipt.

After installing the replacement part, I returned to the same Auto Zone with the bronken parts and the original receipt. A different sales person looked up the warrantee information, and was able to find the original warrantee listed. The first salesperson LIED about it not being there!

However, This guy told me that since the car has four electric windows, there is no proof that the broken parts came from the electric motor that was replaced under warrantee. So I asked him what I needed to do the prove this. He said he did not know. I asked him what I need to do in the future so this would not happen again, and again he said that he did not know.

The bottom line is that what once was a great place to buy auto part has gotten big and no longer cares about the customers the way they used to. Getting a large share of the market place has made them greedy, turning them into liarers and cheats.

I have boughten almost all of my auto parts from Auto Zone since 1995, but over the hassel on the warranttee of a simple $17 item, I will never ever buy anything else from Auto Zone again.
