Honda
Honda crv driveshaft rip-off to consumers

Cars & Transport

1997 cvr with 150,000 km. Has a defective "u-joint on the end of the driveshaft. It has opened up to expose the niddle barings which have subsequently rusted and caused seizure. The result is an intense vibration at higher speeds throughout the car, which continues to get worse. The big problem is you cannot replace just the u-joint. Honda does not make one. You have to purchase a complete driveshalf at about $900.00. Auto wreckers tell me there is an increased demand for this part, and i would expect 98,99 s will soon have this problem. Honda will not acknowledge the problem. This system is a "real time" 4 wheel drive, so most of the time there is no load on the driveshaft, however the metal part still broke down.
