Transport Canada Recall #2009291

Cars & Transport

I have a recall on my 2008 Chev Silverado re airbag system as per Transport Canada Recall #2009291. The wording of the recall is self-explanatory stating illumination of airbag readiness light along with a "service airbag" message on the driver information center. The statement Correction: Dealers will remove the acoustic pad above the SDM did not correct the problem and I was advised by the service rep at the dealership that does not necessarly fix the problem and was asked if they wanted them to further disagnost the problem. I called General Motors Customer Service and explained that to my knowledge regarding recalls they are not prepared to honor the recall and they advised that I would need to take my truck to the dealer to diagnost the problem at my expense and if it was related to the recall that they may pay for the correction, but I would have to pay the dealer for the diagnost, yet if one reads the wording of the recall it has already stated this is a problem that is affecting 94,975 chev silverados and GMC Sierras. What further diagnost do they need??
