Left us hanging!

After thoroughly checking out restaurants in the area, we decided to book our son's Rehearsal Dinner for Thursday evening, July 16th. We gave manager Michael Mormondo a required $200 deposit in March to reserve this date. We also had gone to LaStrada twice after this time with guests to check out the menu, try different entres to help with our picks for the food for our scheduled event, spending over $100 each occasion, plus had already purchased, printed and mailed out invitations, only to receive an e-mail from Mr. Mormondo dated Thursday, June 18th stating that our reservation had been cancelled due to "circumstances beyond their control" that they were no longer open, sorry for the inconvenience. I promptly replied to his e-mail, also sent a copy to Matthew Allsup and Kathy Stevens, also listed as managers on their web site and faxed the same response to their fax number listed on their web site requesting our $200 deposit back for "the inconvenience" of them cancelling less than a month from our reserved date. The fax came back unanswered and also the e-mails with no response. I also stopped by the restaurant last weekend, June 20th to find a black Lincoln Navigator with LSTRADA plates parked behind the building, knocked on the locked doors to see several people walk by in the background, but they did not answer the doors. There was still furniture, wine bottles in the building, notes on the doors that they were out of business, but their voicemail still says to leave a message if you want to make a reservation. I also left thyem another voicemail at that time asking that they answer their door.

All I want is my $200 deposit refunded to me. I am not asking for any other reimbursement towards other expenses or extreme stress and inconvenience this has caused our family to be notified at such a short date. I have no idea if we have a recourse, we held our end of the contract we signed. If we had cancelled we would not have gotten our deposit back, but they cancelled on us, we deserve a refund!!
