Tallent - Restaurant Tallent
Worst valentines day dinner EVER!

On St. Valentine's Day, my date and I went to Restaurant Tallent in beautiful downtown Bloomington. I had made the reservations 3 weeks in advance and we were still seated at the absolute worst table in the place: The table right underneath the service station. Speaking of service, I do not have the words to describe how horrible the service was on this particular evening. I think that I have reached the point in my life where receiving undeserved attitude from wait-staff is out of the question. That being said, our waitress was a rude and arrogant bitch. At one point she even rolled her eyes at me. Not only did we have to tolerate this particular server, but also there were other terrible servers that happened to pop by our table to show their proverbial asses. The absolute low point was when I took a bite of my bread, set it down on the plate and the waiter (not our "official" waitress) snatched the plate away and ran into the kitchen before I could object.in fact, the treatment by the wait-staff as a whole made us feel like we were to sit down, eat, and get the hell out as quickly as possible.

Now, on to the food. Needless to say this dinner was not cheap — more specifically, it cost close to $200. What do you get for $200 at Restaurant Tallent you ask? Well, let me tell you: First, you get undercooked and tasteless risotto. Second, you get a chewy, overcooked steak. Third, wine that tasted like vinegar. Fourth, a mixed nut tart that tasted, and I am not exaggerating here, like cardboard and soap. Finally, some home made mint ice cream that was actually not too bad.

Now, I don't have the most sophisticated palette, nor do I expect the service to be absolutely perfect. However, I do expect to be treated like a human being and, for $200, I expect my goddamn steak to be medium rare, not medium well. Perhaps you think I'm being overly critical, but you are wrong.
