Ripoff only gives 15min breaks to employees no matter if you work 4,9, or even 12hrs day shift thats all you get

My roomate works at a McDonalds and her shift can be anywhere from 8 to sometimes 12 hours and she only allowed a 15min break. All employees there only get 15mins. Hows is that legal?

When asked she was told thats their policy. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the law if you work over 8 hrs you must get aleast 30 mins or more for a break

If anyone can help please let me know! I think its wrong and since most of the employees are young I think Mcdonalds is taking advantage of them!
