Will not return check from our insurance co to repair home after hurricane charlie. Ripoff

After our ins.Co sent the check to do the repairs to the house we had to send it to homeq. They said it wasn't a problem because the check was under ten thousand dollars. They would sign it and return it as soon as possible.

After waiting for 2 weeks we called them. They said that was wrong; the amount of damages had to be under 10 thousand dollars so they would keep it and disburse the monies when needed.

I talk with a lawyer and said to tell them the roofer was in the drive way and wanted his monies to start work. I called them and told them this and they said we can only give you three not four thousand to start the job. I told them the roofer wasn't bartering and wanted his money.

They again refused to give me any money this went on for another week. They then realized i didn't sign the check and sent it back to me to sign.

I again contacted my lawyer and he said to sign it and send them the papers from the ins co showing all work to be done along with different bids to repair the roof and screens siding etc. This we did and never heard from them so again.

I called them and asked to talk to a superviser which all of them were out to lunch. Again i called later and after being on hold for over a half hour was disconnected.

I finally got through and was told they needed a paper saying we are using more than one contracter to do the repairs on the house. After sending them three different estimates from three different contracters you would think they could figure that out for themselves. But again i contacted my lawyer who said it seems like they are trying to keep the monies from the hurricane and draw interest from it and not giving it back to the people to do the repairs instead and wants to kept updated so maybe he can press charges in the attoney generals office against homeq. We still have heard nothing again about the check or the money to put a roof on our house
