Ripoff called a poor college student and tried to rip her off

My cell phone rings at 4pm and the caller ID says unknown. I pick it up anyways. A male with a heavy Indian accent tells me that I am qualified to get $8,000 of free grant money from the government. As a college student that is about to graduate that money looked really nice.

He said his name was Shawn Michael. He says I qualify for the money because I filed my taxes last year. He then asks if I am over 18. He inquires about if I have a checking account and where I bank.

He tells me what they do is send me a package of forms. After I complete and mail in the forms I get the money. He even gives me the 1 (800) 540-0858 if I have any problems or do not recieve the package. He says that I need to write down this number: 2318. He says it's important and I didn't understand why over the phone.

The catch of course is that I need to pay him $200 something dollars. He says it's a once in a life time fee. I tell him I'm not interested. He starts talking rapidly about why I shouldn't worry and that I can talk to the manager.

That got me to thinking, who is this company? I quickly shearched the company and it sends me here to a guy who has already been ripped off!

Similar type company name. Similar offer. I hang up my cell. I call the 1-800 number and it says this number is not in service.

I'm so thankful that someone posted about this! Thanks for saving me from getting ripped off!
