Rip-off!

I had been a responsible person with my credit card payments, and thought that moving to on-line payments would help me make easy payments and maintain my great credit rating. I was able to go online and have my payments for Providian come right out of my checking account. Being a beginner at this method, I believed that the confirmation that was provided after I submitted payment was sufficient enough to know that my payment was going through without a problem. However, 90 days after I began paying online, I started getting those nasty calls on my voice mail informing me that I was 90 days late! I HAD NEVER BEEN EVEN 30 DAYS LATE IN MY LIFE!

I had worked so hard to maintain my credit, which was near perfect before this, and I thought for sure they would recognize that and understand that the online payments were set up and the funds were available. I believed they should forgive it, being that it was due to some technical error, and because I had made such a strong effort to be a good customer. The error lay with my bank, a credit union, and a dash number that they recognized for other credit card companies. All my other online payments had gone through just fine.

I called Providian to see if they would waive the fees and keep me at my very acceptable APR, and they were treating me as though I was the lowest of low. They would not transfer me to a manager, they insulted me, and I had tried several times to resolve it with them to no avail. I believe that I had disputed this with the credit bureaus and my credit rating has repaired somewhat since then, but it's not excellent like it was before I dealt with Providian.
