As executor of my parent's trust after their deaths I went about the task of cashing in their various accounts to be distributed to their heirs. All went well until I tried to cash out 2 CD's at BOA. I went to the branch bank in San Juan Caistrano with the neccesary paper work, original death certificates, Trust documents. So far so good. After several phone calls by the personal banker to the main office I was told I would have to pay penalties for early withdrawal, after a few more calls and 2 1/2 hours later they said oh yes right no penalaties but there will be a $500fee. For what they couldn't tell me. I left to make calls on my own. Since Dec 1st, I have talked to 12 different people each with a different story, one person said they would mail me a check no problem. After a week I called back and no record of that but the next person said we don't mail checks from this office they need to do that at the brach. I said can you call them and tell them, no phone calls can be made we receive calls only. I begged for a phone nmber of someone who could help. Sorry no number. Back to the branch, sorry we can't issue a check without approval because it is a New Hampshire bank. Back to the 800 number. Finally late afternoon I found someone that might be able to help me, send in documents (the ones I already submited) notarized letter of intent. We will see how this works. I feel sorry for the people that work there. As a side note always lines and lots of greaters asking if your banking needs have been met, Get behind the counter and get the line down. When this is over I will never ever set foot in a BOA. I have dealt with several banks over the years, I can always deal with problems that come up but I have never seen anyting like this inept company. Sent an e-mail to complain to BOA and no response. Surprise!
