Overdraft Ripoff

I am a pretty deligent accountant for our finances and use US Banks internet banking web site daily to balance our checkbook. I check our balance and available balance and credit card payments pending. Yet this morning, I got on the web site and found $155 of overdraft fee accessed to our account. I was dumbfounded. Last Thursday we had a measley $34.00 but I check in our pending and found nothing that would put us in the negative. My husbands pay check was directly deposited early around 4 am Friday morning.

The money from his check plus the $34 were combined for a grand total which left us quite a bit of money to cover anything coming through and to pay any bills coming up. My husband's employer banks also with US Bank and we have been told in the past that funds are immediately available. Yet, Monday morning I looked and later on Friday, bank overchange fees were assessed.

That information was not available to me on that Friday and only came to fruitation when I check on Monday. I have never had any problems with Banks before on this and am very frustrated. There has got to be some sort of legal passage that sides with the consumer on these matters especially when their computer records show that you have not gone into the negative.

*Side note - My friend had the same problem with her bank as far as deposit going in on the several days after being deposited (her employer and her both bank at the same bank). She is now at the point where she goes and cashes the check then stands back in line and deposits the cash. Since cash goes in on the same day, she avoids any overdraft fees.
