Business & Finance

I received a call today because I was trying to buy a new car and haven't been successful so Everest Consumer Benefits said they got my cell phone number from someone? They offered me a $2400.00 unsecured credit card for a one time $299.00 fee, which was supposed to be in lieu of annual & membership fees, the guy was a great salesman, he said if he lies to me he could loose his job so everything he told me was on the up and up. But when they were recording the conversation, so legally they have you on tape agreeing to this contract, the person verifing the info said I agree to the $299.00 benefit package.

At that point I said I was not agreeing to purchase a benefit package I was agreeing to pay $299.00 to get an unsecured credit card with a $2400.00 credit limit I could use right away and anywhere in the nation. They took me off the recording and sent me back to the salesman who had a heavy accent and said what is the problem don't want a credit card I said I would not agree on a recording to accept a benefits package for $299.00 unless they would state on that recording I was guaranteed an unsecured credit card for the $299.00. The salesman, Thomas Gregory, stated I could decline the offer but if I did I couldn't apply for credit for 24 months. That's a joke right?

I cannot believe a company like this could get ahold of my cell phone number then lie to me. After declining the offer I contacted my bank to put a stop pay they told me they wouldn't know who the charge would be coming from so I would have to wait to see if it's charged then dispute the charge.

I went on line to look up Everest Consumer Benefits and this is the site that came up. It truly amazes me that we live in such a free country that we the good people are always the target for getting screwed.

Sincerely
Mary in Califiornia
