I wish these Comcast people could be penalized for their blatant deceitfulness

We were having problems with our cable, computer and telephone provider and were approached by Comcast. We wanted to keep our phone number because I'm on a committee, in the middle of organizing a 50th year high school reunion and my number has been sent to a number of classmates for the purpose contacting me for information. At first Comcast said it would be no problem to keep our same number but then they said that we could not keep the number because it was out of the designated area. Several weeks later we were informed once again that we could keep our phone number and that it would be "no problem". Furthermore, they said we could keep all the TV stations that we currently had and that there would be no extra charge for that and for the phone. Long story short, we changed to Comcast and thought all was well. The tecnician, however, after installing the system, had no knowledge of us keeping our same number and gave us another number. He called the Comcast office and was told that keeping the same telephone number was impossible. After much discussion between him and the person on the Comcast line, we were told that we could not keep the number but to our surprise, when calling the original number, it appeared to be working. It worked fine for about a week but then, our original number disappeared and no one could get in touch with us. My husband spent several hours on the phone trying to correct this and was finally told that we were "given the wrong information and that they were sorry" Not only that, we were missing some of our TV stations. To this they replied " sorry, you do not get those stations with your plan"... How dishonest is that?!! Right now we do not get Verizons in our area, so we are really stuck or we'd get rid of Comcast before paying them a dime. Our original number is gone and there is nothing we can do about it. I wish these Comcast people could be penalized for their blatant deceitfulness. Sincerely, Mary Harding
