I tried to obtain a copy of my credit report from Experian back in January and I was floored to find out that a Potentially negative item cropped up on my file from a collection agency that I never received any notices from, Resurgent Capital Services (RCS/CVF for short). I immediately notified the credit bureaus by disputing such potentially negative item on my credit report because I have no recollection of ever having owed the original creditor, Washington Mutual (which has been defunct since 2008 after going bankrupt and being bought out by JP Morgan Chase), the outstanding balance of $1,036. Furthermore, I have never received any correspondences from either the original creditor and this collection agency about such outstanding balance that I never actually owe.
On February 14, I was notified by Experian that such Potentially Negative item from RCS/CVF has been disputed and will thus continue on record until March. Upon the advisement of the credit bureaus, I contacted the source of such derogatory credit information, Resurgent Capital Services, at (864) 248-8700 and I was even more shocked when I found out that the personal identifying information that this collection agency reported to the credit bureau (such as my full name, Social Security Number, address as well as the Partial Account number as stated on my credit report) does not exist in their database. Therefore, there was no way of getting this credit report resolved and for this matter, I was advised by different representatives on different occasions to fax over a copy of my credit report with my personal identifying information to (866) 467-0956 and (866) 467-0163, which I did on February 14 and February 21, under the impression that this collection agency will duly rectify such erroneous and absolutely inaccurate credit report with the credit bureaus. Until now, such credit item still appears on my credit report under Potentially Negative Items with no way of resolving such item with the source of information since my information is not in their system. I just do not understand how this collection agency managed to file such Potentially Negative item from a now-defunct creditor I never had any debts or account with, that is attached to my Social Security Number and name which do not appear in their dtabase at all the minute I try to resolve this matter with them on the phone.
