Business & Finance

The other morning my phone rang at 8 am and it was a credit card company asking for further information on an application that I had applied for. Being half awake, I explained that I didn't remember applying for a card but they gave me an application date and said the card was for a $2500 limit with no yearly fees. I asked the young man what the interest rate was and he quickly said "8.9%". I quickly responded "is that before the prime rate is applied?" And he simply said "No it's a fixed rate of 8.9% for those who have applied and have great credit. So he said that his company would issue a card through First Financial and I would receive it 8-10 after the application fee of $299 was recieved. I questioned "If I have such great credit, why do I have to pay $299" He explained that it would place rush on the account and it would be credited to the card.

I am in the middile of starting a business and $2500 sounded pretty good!

SO I gave the dude my information. I had a strange feeling about the conversation, but I still was half awake and really didn't care at this point. I thought to myself, if he asks for my SS# then I know something is not right. He knew almost all of my information already. So I thought perhaps it was legit. Both Reps I spoke to said that I would be able to cancel my order before July 15, without question, all I had to do is call 1-866-969-6272.

10 Minutes after hanging up and having my morning cup of joe, I decided against it. I called the number that I was given, and found that it just went to a message.instantly, I felt sick. There was something worng when a message doesn't give a name of a company or anything. Real credit card compainies put you on hold for 20 minutes, but you do talk to a human eventually!

I did leave a message stating that I did not want to go throught with the "offer" and would be contacting them again.

I will be going to my bank tomorrow to close my account. I do not want to lose a dime to a scam. I all of my years, I have never been taken advantage of, I usually can smell a rat from a mile away! They are pretty good at being sneaky and dishonest.
