Suntrust Branch, Cave Spring, Roanoke Virginia Failure to Honor Free Checking Agreement, Charging for Check Card Usage - BEware!

Loyal customer of Suntrust for 15 years. Beware Suntrust Customers! Suntrust is attemting to charge everyone for the "free checking" account you have as well as charging you to use your check card! Like the other review posted here, I received a letter from Suntrust stating that they are doing away with free checking, even if that is what you signed up for 15 years ago~! Also, they are charging $5 a month ($60) a year for you to use your own money!!! I was in total disbelief, so went into the local branch in Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring and spoke with a very unconcerned Manager. Suntrust's solutions, keep $5000 in your account and they won't charge you! Laughable! Ridiculous and illegal. I called Suntrust Corporate and nowhere could they show me in my agreement that they had the right to change the account or check card. I have reported them to the Consumer Protection agency, the Federal Reserve, the BBB, and whoever else I can think of in the next few months. Class action suit anyone??? I suggest all customers of Suntrust switch to Bank america. Or, better yet, fight this until the end, then if Suntrust refuses to change, simply use their bill pay system, pay no fees, and destroy your check card. Use a nice credit card like AMEX and get the points while making Suntrust do all the work! If anyone has other means to file complaints please post them.
