WA Dept of Financial Institutions said HGS is not licensed to practice in WA. Rep at HGS said it did not need a license

Home Guardian Solutions (HGS) sought to represent me to reduce my mortgage rate. I "qualified" for a federal grant under the Home Saver program. Www.grant. Gov does not list any grant with the words "Home Saver" or "HomeSaver." HGS suggested, but did not promise, that I might qualify for a new mortgage rate of 3%. HGS said they would use my being laid off and my disability to justify a lower rate to the mortgage company. None of the documents they emailed me contained any specific reference to the grant. Apparently, HGS would handle all the grant qualifying paperwork for me.

HGS wanted $1,995 for their assistance. HGS said the Home Saver grant would cover the other half of the costs of the mortgage rate lowering transaction. So they represented that I would receive the grant which would reduce my refinancing cost. I just needed to send HGS $1,995 to start their work with my mortgage company.

A person at the WA State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI and dfi. Wa. Gov) said HGS is not licensed in WA state. HGS said it did not need a license in WA for their business.

The California Attorney General's website (http://ag.ca. Gov/loanmod/index.php#) states "Foreclosure consultants are prohibited by law from collecting money before services are performed."

I concluded HGS attempted to defraud me. Thus, this report.
